Carringer Farms: Don has farmed all his life-family gardens and farming with his grandparents/parents. We had our farm in Franklin, NC for 10 years and participated in several different farmers markets and sold to several restaurants. In 2022, we sold our farm in Franklin and bought a 9-acre farm in Altamont, NC. We will be growing a lot of vegetables in the spring. We also grow microgreens. We still have our bees that pollinate our crops, so we will have honey. We grow a lot of our plants from seed. My wife Belinda makes jams, jellies, preserves, and relishes, along with baked goods.

Throughout the season, they grow many varieties of vegetables, flowers, and herbs on 4 acres of fields. Now a second generation farm!

Heritage Homestead at Elk Creek. Heritage Homestead Goat Dairy is nestled on 17 acres in the mountains of Ashe County just outside of Jefferson, North Carolina. Carol and Lon Coulter purchased the old Florence Kelly home place in 1994, which had been a working cow dairy until the early 70s. To help clear the briars and brambles that had taken over the farm, the Coulters purchased goats. One thing led to another and soon enough Carol was milking goats and taking cheese classes. For 6 years the Coulters worked toward becoming a licensed dairy and in January of 2009 Heritage Homestead was licensed.
As Carol and Lon now retire, Jennifer and Mike Hambourger are taking over the Heritage Homestead Dairy. They currently are producing cheese out of the Coulter kitchen, while building a new facility on their 26 acre farm in Todd, NC. The Hambourgers are excited to benefit from Carol and Lon's mentorship, while maintaining the same products and commitment to quality local foods. |

Opossum Bottom Farm & Market Garden is a small urban farm nestled against the mountains in Johnson City TN. Way back in the 70s I started gardening with my great aunt. While helping her in her garden, she taught me how to grow things without the assistance of synthetic products, which now, fast forward 40 years, is a more familiar term, organic. While many of the methods have changed since then, the base fundamentals of growing sustainably, improving the land on which you grow, and providing synthetic free food are still the same. We strive to incorporate those fundamentals in our practices so that our produce is free of all synthetic products. No pesticides, no fungicides, no herbicides, nothing, just good practices, natural fertilizers, rainwater, and a love of growing.

Established in early 2022, they are building our farm slowly as they come to better know the land with each season. They are still evolving our farm focus, but for now, they will be growing and sharing fresh diversified vegetables, milled corn products (grits, cornmeal) and medicinal herbal products. Although new to the Boone area, they have been organic farmers for the past 25 years in a variety of places - as owners, managers, breeders, seed producers, educators - they have tried a bit of everything - and the learning never stops. MoMo Biju I am very passionate about making jewelry. Since my teenage years seeing jewelry and people wearing it made me feel curious, wondering what was it made from, with what color that would go, how that piece could change an outfit, or even the mood of the person who was wearing it. As soon as my daughters were school-age, I started looking for some training, first in Michigan and now in North Carolina. I learned to explore beads’ stores, wire and metal sheet options, books, and different techniques. In fact, I am still in this process, but want to start showing my adventures and work results. I believe that handmade jewelry should be accessible to anyone who would like to have a unique piece, made from sustainable and meaningful materials, created with intention, to bring joy, healing, color, nature vibrations, etc. I make all my jewelry at home, in a spare room. The time that I spend making them is as unique as the pieces, it flies unnoticed, and it is light, joyful, and complete.

Bloom WNC Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I was raised on a mini farm that supplied produce and flowers to my family’s French restaurant. This was long before the farm-to-table movement was trendy! I fondly remember helping my mother in the garden and relishing the days we got to go cut flowers for bouquets. While I miss the volcanic rich soil of the Pacific Northwest, I am delighted to grow flowers here in North Carolina with the gentle seasons and predictable rains. I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to grow lovely flowers for my beloved customers, and to live so much of my life outdoors. My life is spent in the dirt and the weather, and I labor with my hands to bring forth a beautiful product, all while being gentle with the land. I grow specialty cut flowers for my shareholders and workshops, to design with for weddings and special events, and to sell to local talented florists.
